12.12.12: Strengthening Disaster Preparedness and Artistic Heritage in Malaysia.

Witness historic moment in the journey of compassion and solidarity between 12.12.12 and the Malaysia Relief Agency (MRA) MOU Signing Ceremony.

The 12.12.12 Charity Project is pleased to announce its 2nd Media Conference scheduled for October 4, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the ASPIAL Studio, 2A Lorong Dato Abu Bakar, Section 16, 46350 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. This event marks a significant milestone as it unveils the partnership between the 12.12.12 Charity Project and the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA).
The 12.12.12 Charity Project, founded with a vision of a better Malaysia, has a dual mission: to create a positive impact on the lives of Malaysians through disaster relief efforts and to promote the rich cultural heritage of Malaysia. In line with these goals, the project aims to procure 100 fully equipped Flood Rescue Boats, which will be donated to BOMBA Malaysia to bolster their disaster response capabilities.
MRA, a registered non-profit organisation specialising in humanitarian and disaster assistance, will play a pivotal role as the collaborative partner for this noble charity cause. All proceeds from the 12.12.12 Charity Project will be directed to MRA, and tax-exemption receipts will be provided to all donors. This partnership ensures transparency and accountability in the distribution of funds.
In the distinguished presence of notable personalities, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony was carried out with utmost significance. Datin Winnie Loo, the esteemed Chairperson of 12.12.12, put her signature on the document, representing the charity project. Beside her, Mr. Melvin Lam, representing ACTnow Mobile Community Application, added weight to the occasion. On the other side, Dr. Mohd Daud Sulaiman, the respected President of MRA, affixed his signature, signifying the collaborative effort. Accompanying him was Dr. Shahrizal Azwan Bin Samsudin, the Secretary General of MRA, who played a crucial role in this partnership. This momentous event was further witnessed by prominent figures including YB Tan Kok Wai, Member of Parliament for Cheras, YB Lee Chen Chung, Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya, and Datin Dorph Peng, among others, underscoring the collective commitment towards the noble cause

In light of recent severe weather conditions and flooding affecting parts of Malaysia, the 12.12.12 Charity Project urges both the private and public sectors to rally behind this national charity project. Timely support is crucial to enhance disaster preparedness and mitigate the impact of natural disasters on our communities.

The project committee eagerly awaits the prompt consent of other invited National Icons to honour their remarkable achievements and contributions. Their involvement in this prestigious project adds cultural resonance and significance to the initiative.
The National Icons will be depicted through self-portraits created by accomplished contemporary Malaysian artists. These portraits will be featured in a 2024/25 National Exhibitions showcasing the diverse and vibrant cultural heritage of Malaysia.
The 12.12.12 Charity Project has garnered support from esteemed individuals, including Her Highness, Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, Raja Puan Muda Perlis, who serves as the Royal Patron. Her involvement underscores the importance of unity and resilience in the face of natural disasters.
For transparency and good practice, the project is supported by Reanda LLKG International, an Audit firm, for external audit, and Messrs. Juslyn Chin & Jean for legal advice. These partnerships ensure that funds are managed responsibly and that the project adheres to the highest standards of accountability.
