Parents can play a huge role in our lives and if parenting is done right, children can take in all the guidance and teachings to heart – just like how Kate Choo’s parents are. Kate – who also looks up to Ilsa Crawford – said she tries to follow the principle practiced by Crawford which is to first understand and empathise with the human needs of their customer before diving into the design process.

Her biggest challenge would be the initial stages of starting the company where certain aspects of owning a business were challenging but has since overcome it. Setting boundaries and keeping to it also helps keep relationships professional and friendly at the same time. As for getting more clientele, she thinks word of mouth advertising holds more value than getting awards, even though the latter is just as important.
