Hailing from the ‘Pearl of the Orient’, Penangnite brothers Joey and Joel Goh make the team of JGIConcept Design. The interest in interior designing came about when Joey worked at home improvement stores. There, he was thrown into a medley of creative ideas from both furniture outlets and lighting stores. His interactions with the shoppers made him realise his talent and creativity. Thus, he pursued a degree from University Science Malaysia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Housing, Building and Planning, majoring in Interior Design before founding JGIConcept Design in 2008. Joel’s passion in the industry awoke after tagging along to several of Joey’s projects. Ensuring that he brings an added asset to JGIConcept Design, Joel became a Business Management graduate who focuses on the company’s sales, marketing, project management, team development and company compliance. Given a chance, the brothers would love to be a winner at the prestigious A Awards.

A power duo, they have been very close since childhood. Understanding each other perfectly, their different creative personalities complement each other. Like opposite forces of the north and south pole that attracts and demonstrates the magic of the universe, they too share the same special chemistry. Joey gets his inspiration from observing various different environment elements – sun, rain, natural landscape and so on. He also enjoys drawing on his heritage of flavourful culture that weaves Colonial, Oriental and local influences perfectly together. The best way to describe Joey’s designs is through his idol Enrico Castellani. Just like Castellani, Joey’s signature style is Modern Minimalist that showcases a strong centrepiece that is both rational and practical. Meticulous by nature, Joel’s people personality helps him enjoy interacting with the clients, his fellow colleagues, contractors, builders and suppliers so that everyone is on the same page. This makes him the glue who ensures every unique design by his brother comes together seamlessly.
