Knowledge of Design Week (KODW) 2024 kicks off at W Hong Kong with the partnership's key figures officiating the three-day premier event

Known as Asia’s leading platform for design knowledge exchange, KODW 2024 is organized by the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) in collaboration with France, this year’s Partner Country for the event. Co-organizers include the Hong Kong Design Institute and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, with the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) as the Lead Sponsor.

The inaugural ceremony of Knowledge of Design Week (KODW) 2024 commenced at W Hong Kong with Mr. Victor Tsang, the Commissioner for Cultural and Creative Industries, and Christile Drulhe, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau. Joining them in inaugurating the three-day affair was Prof. Eric Yim, Chairman of the Hong Kong Design Centre.

This year marks HKDC’s second collaboration with France, aptly coinciding with the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations and marking a significant milestone in cultural exchange. The collaboration will span the entire year, with KODW 2024 as the flagship event alongside Business of Design Week (BODW) 2024 and the Maison&Objet trade fair to take place in “Design December”, supported by the CCIDA.

KODW 2024 aims to behave as a facilitator of a dynamic knowledge exchange across diverse design disciplines. Spotlighting over 30 globally acclaimed industry pioneers and creative leaders, these experts in design, architecture and design education have headlined more than 30 interactive forums, workshops, and masterclasses last June 25 to 27.

Themed “Inter/Section: Crafting Tomorrow’s Design”, the program explored how design intersects with artistry, technology and culture to drive innovation and create opportunities in our evolving society. This initiative solidifies Hong Kong’s position as a global hub for design, culture, business and tourism within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
