The Spiral Sky & Ocean Aria installation by Alexander Wong Architects at Hong Kong International Airport’s Regala Skycity Hotel wins an international accolade for “Best Hotel Conference Facilities Interior (Hong Kong)”

Held at Bangkok’s Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park this past May, The Asia Pacific Property Awards 2024-25 is an international design award that highlights participants from around the world who have made influential contributions to the architecture and interior design scene in the past year. For its Spiral Sky & Ocean Aria work, Alexander Wong Architects was awarded the “5 Star ★★★★★ Best Hotel Conference Facilities Interior (Hong Kong)”, and was also nominated for the “Best Hotel Conference Facilities Interior Asia Pacific” category.

With this highly regarded accolade within the international real estate industry, Alexander Wong Architects‘ status is once again solidified.

The Spiral Sky Banquet Hall

Inspired by international travel as the Regala Skycity Hotel sits adjacent to the renowned Hong Kong International Airport, the Grand Banquet Hall embodies the active energy of adventure and exploration. Transforming a traditional space into a dynamic venue, the design integrates geometric interplay. The hallmark of this transformation lies in the unique ceiling design, featuring spinning rectangular white frames that soar above to symbolize the esprit of voyage. Enhanced by bespoke LED lighting effects, the Spiral Sky ceiling offers a truly original experience, captivating visitors with a spectacular light and sound show. Complementing this design are intricate crystal chandeliers, giant golden columns doubling as LED displays, and luxurious amenities such as the Bridal Room, Cloakroom, and Guest Restrooms – each exuding sophistication and comfort to create an unforgettable experience for hotel guests.

Ocean Aria Banquet Rooms

Situated as a pivotal gateway to the Pacific Rim, the Hong Kong International Airport continues to be one of the most efficient and frequented airports worldwide. Within this bustling international hub lie the Regala Skycity Hotel, which houses three banquet rooms. Each of these elegant salons basks in ample sunlight that floods the space and evokes an appreciation for natural elements, particularly the oceans and expansive sky. Drawing inspiration from Bridget Riley‘s Op Art, the ceiling design mimics the motion of ocean waves and drifting clouds. Suspended from above are dazzling star-like chandeliers that cast a mesmerizing Interstellar effect. With moveable partitions, these large spaces can merge into one to accommodate various events seamlessly. During the day, expansive sunlight curtains form through the tinted glass that is adorned with organic crystals to produce crescents against the Victor Vasarely-inspired abstract sculptures. The textured golden glass walls then complement the fabric upholstery whose design was influenced by Issey Miyake. As guests gaze skyward, they witness the comings and goings of international flights, serving as an ode to the hotel’s role as a global gateway.
