Metrics Global holds a successful Beach Clean-up at Pantai Remis

Design house Metrics Global brings eco-awareness towards ocean debris through a rewarding beach clean-up, notably removing over 3000 items from the coasts of Pantai Remis and Pantai Morib in Selangor

With support from Reef-Check Malaysia, Metrics Global’s beach clean-up events on May 25 and June 22, 2024 saw the participation of over 100 individuals eagerly lending a hand in ridding our oceans of waste scraps. With attendees from prominent organizations like LBS Foundation, NextGen and Sunway University, as well as close suppliers of the design house, this diverse gathering highlights the studio’s dedication to environmental preservation.

The pressing need to combat marine pollution comes with the alarming scientific studies that signify the imminent effects to be seen in every aspect of, not only human but all, life. The event aimed to promote sustainability and community involvement, with hopes to inspire further initiatives with positive environmental impact within the participants’ circles. Community members from various walks of life fostered and engaged in meaningful connections at the events.

With the large crowd of community members alongside Metrics Global, participants came away from the coastlines of Selangor having collected 3,280 items from the beach — almost 17% of which were burnt cigarette stubs. Over 380 kilograms of litter and waste are now off our beachlines, thanks to this group of eco-warriors.

Alongside Special Collaboration certificates as tokens of appreciation for the affiliate organisations in attendance, every individual at the event received a Certificate of Participation for their hard work and activism. In company of a sponsored coffee truck, other light refreshments were also provided for all attendees to stay refreshed throughout their time at the coastlines.

Since its inception, Metrics Global has always placed importance on being agents of change in the design industry. Having organised beach clean-up events since 2018, the design house continues to take action against societal issues that affect Malaysian communities. Some of the studio’s commendable past initiatives tackled facets such as elderly care, and literature accessibility for the youth.
