New Beginnings | Malaysia welcomes Porro at the Plan

Simple yet refined, the heterogenous universe of Italian furniture expert Porro has finally been unveiled at the Plan.

Soon to celebrate its 100th anniversary, Porro is a contemporary wooden furniture brand that has long mastered the art of simplicity when it comes to home and office living essentials. Established in Italy, the brand has become globally renowned thanks to its intrinsic ability to select, work and interpret wood, offering an incredibly wide range of finishings and using it in unexpected ways by implementing cutting-edge technologies for glossy and matt lacquers alongside fine woodworking techniques of the past.

From aesthetics to function, the design philosophy that has kept them going strong all these years is straightforward: simplicity above all. Continuing to focus on the Far East, Porro advances its expansion project with a new stop in Malaysia, one that was unveiled with sleek sophistication on the evening of 18 September 2024.

“In Kuala Lumpur, we share our vision on living: an interior with architectural spatiality, where our modular systems and collections of products offer the opportunity for custom-made projects, capable of expressing different tastes and cultures, thanks to flexible production and a very wide selection of finishes,” explains Maria Porro, marketing and communication director of the family company.

Said vision authentically came to life in partnership with the Plan, best described as a luxury kitchen specialist with exclusive representation of the world’s most prestigious kitchen and wardrobe brands—all of which are guaranteed to hoist any living space to new heights of elegance and functionality.

As a result, Porro’s showroom space was meticulously curated with a refined style and subtle ingenuity that reflects the brand’s essence which ultimately boils down to an appreciation for the simple yet finer things in life.

Welcoming the throng of guests who arrived from near and far were Eddie Tan and Chew Chang Ming who together serve as the dedicated directors of the Plan. On behalf of the furniture brand itself, APAC Director Carlo Raineri was present and ever-ready to share the expansive Porro universe with Malaysian audiences.

The intimate crowd was also inclusive of internationally acclaimed Chef James Won; more than just a commanding figure in Malaysia’s culinary landscape, his influence extends into the luxury world as the first ambassador for The Plan. Apart from the chef who earned the distinguished Knighthood (Chevalier) of The Order of Agricultural Merit in 2024, the other special guest in attendance was, as always, the champion of all things Italian: Filippo Fusaro, the Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in Malaysia.

After an evening filled with excitement, attendees departed with a renewed passion for design, eagerly anticipating the limitless possibilities that lie ahead in this terrain of innovation.
